"Our guest, our funder, he doesn't need the portal to get into the killerwatt plane, or to get out, for that matter. The portal is just a convenient way for him to get into our realm."
Oddenstein finished replacing the part in the machine and walked over toward its controls.
"More convenient, anyhow."
He flipped a switch, and the machine hummed to life. The portal to the killerwatt plane opened up. Thankfully, there was enough energy stored in the Leyden jars downstairs to open up the portal again. The instrument panel on the machine showed that the jars were being recharged. A sigh of relief came from the professor.

"Looks like the couple is still functioning. We won't have to use the generator to recharge."
